Video on demand a.k.a VOD or Audio video on demand a.k.a (AVOD) is a system that allows users to watch/listen to video or audio content on demand. The VOD system either streams content through a webserver, allowing the user to view the video in real time, or download it to a device such as a computer, digital video recorder, personal video recorder or portable media player for viewing at any time. There are majority of cable and telco based television providers that offer both VOD streaming, such as pay-per-view, whereby a user buys or selects a movie or television program and it begins to play on their laptop or desktop almost instantaneously, or downloading it to their system immediately for viewing it in the future.
